I wish the people in Lebanon would think green at least for one week! Here is how:
- Use reusable shopping bags for your groceries or cloth shopping
- Turn off the light when you are out
- Walk to the grocery shop that is 10 minutes away instead of taking the car
- Students car pool to university
- Parents send your children to school with the common school transportation "autocar" :)
- Newly weds don't use plastic cups, dishes etc in order to have less dish washing to do
- Have a recycling basket at your house where you can place all papers & take them by the end of the month or the trimester to recycling points. You have many like: Lebanese Recycling Works in Roumieh, SOLICAR in Wadi Shahrour, SIPCO in Kfarchima, SICOMO in Qab Elias, NINEX in Zouk Mosbeh, Unipack in Halat and Mimoza in Qaa al-Rim. And also for plastics: Mazar Plast in the Bekaa, Rocky Plast in Jbeil, and the Lebanese Recycling Works, which also recycles paper. Or also for metals: Liban Fonderies in Roumieh and Ohanis Kasarjian in Kfarschima
- Other ways to go green, is to use a water bottle, and stop buying plastic disposable bottles
- Ride bikes, it is healthy and eco-friendly! (Avoid it on the highway)
- Turn off your computer completely at night
- As long as you can check things online, avoid to print them, like courses for students & emails at work
- Print on two sides, or let your kids color on the back side of used paper
- Before buying any electronic device, check its energy consumption
- Line dry your laundry instead of using the dryer machine (anyways it ruins cloth & makes a lot of sound!)
- Repurpose glass jars as leftover containers and bulk storage (Or better, use them to serve alcohol to your guests! There is a whole bars chain that uses this concept) ;)
It is really outdated not to go Green!
Go Green, or seriously... Go home!
See you soon...
